LeBron James: Cavaliers’ All-time Leading Scorer

With a popularity that spans many media such as books, documentaries, and television commercials, apart from his actual performance in the court, and numerous awards only gotten by the truly talented in the professional setting, perhaps the name LeBron James is amongst the pinnacle of popularity in the sport of basketball.

Born LeBron Raymore James in Akron, Ohio, young LeBron gained popularity in the sport of high school probably as early as high school. Like many popular NBA players of history, James’ childhood life is pretty anonymous and is only known to those whom he grew up with or had acquaintance with in life.

As a student to the St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, a Catholic school founded by Irish priests in Ohio, LeBron James was a star player of the Fighting Irish High School Basketball team. James was so popular as early as high school as a basketball player, many anticipated him to become an NBA superstar—he did. At least after having drafted into the NBA with the Cavs.

But it was not until 2003, fresh from high school, that LeBron James was chosen as first overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In four years since starting a professional career in basketball, James had seen himself contributing to his team by leading them in the finals in 2007 but was sadly defeated by the San Antonio Spurs for the championship.

Seven years thereafter, James saw himself moving to another team—dubbed The Decision as a highly-publicized ESPN episode. As of 2010, LeBron has been playing for the Miami Heat to continue on his career. His decision to move to another team was fruitful not just to James, but also to the team he’s now playing with.

Despite playing only for four seasons, the Miami Heat has reached the finals in all four seasons and even won the championship twice consecutively on the years 2012 and 2013. By 2013, James had already made a record with the Heat when it won 27 consecutive games straight which ranks as the third in NBA history.

However, as of 2014, James saw himself getting back to his former team to which, at the present, he is playing with. With James as the metaphorical helm of his team, Cavaliers once again reached the finals twice and even winning the championship in 2016 against the Golden State Warriors.

Nowadays, LeBron James is not just considered one of the most influential and most popular athletes there is, he is also amassed wealth resulting from his many endorsement deals.
